WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer (10-5-2, 5-4-1 AMC) couldn't mount another second half comeback on Tuesday afternoon and fell 2-1 to Williams Baptist (10-2-4, 6-1-3 AMC). With one game left in the regular season, the Spartans are sixth in the AMC standings with 16 points.
Tuesday's first half got off to a rocky start as Williams Baptist took a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes. In the 17

Davide Bucarelli appeared to have caught a corner kick before contact in the box caused the ball to come loose. The official waved off any hopes of a foul as Stefano Silva tapped it home into an open goal. Less than two minutes later, Gonzalo Gallego cleaned up a cross into the box and beat Bucarelli through the five-hole for a 2-0 Eagles lead.
The Spartans would respond well in the second half to make for a close finish. In the 57

Richie Taylor in the box. The sophomore's fourth of the year made it 2-1 with just over a half hour to go.
The Spartans threatened multiple times in the game's final stretch but couldn't find the equalizer. Williams Baptist held on and secured a top four finish in the conference standings.
Missouri Baptist will finish the regular season on Saturday at Park. The Pirates are currently in fifth place with the same amount of points as the Spartans but having played one less game. Kickoff time is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
