SPARTANS STAY HOT IN SIOUX CITY

ST. LOUIS—The No. 2 ranked men's volleyball team continued their winning ways on Friday night, earning another road victory. With this win, the Spartans earn their seventh consecutive sweep and are now one of three teams that remain undefeated in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2019.

Morningside (Iowa) and MBU went point for point early on in set one. The Mustangs led by two when a kill from Cameron Hibbler put Steven Rodriguez at the service line for two consecutive aces (7-6). From there, the Spartans would stay ahead, cruising to game-point (24-11). Three kills from Morningside's Ryan Coyle sparked a late run for the Mustangs, but it was not in time as MBU took set one, 25-15.

Set two started off as the one before it as the teams went back and forth yet again. Each side dished out their fair share of kills, but errors from MC would allow the Spartans to stay ahead. Kills from Miljan Kastratovic and Steven Rodriguez granted MBU the second set, 25-16.

The third and final set was another tight one, with Missouri Baptist staying just a few steps ahead. Mistakes would ultimately cost Morningside a chance at a fourth set. The Spartans led 24-17 when a Mustang service error gave MBU the sweep (25-17).

Opposite hitter Miljan Kastratovic led the Spartans with nine kills total, while outside hitters Steven Rodriguez and Luka Cajic followed just behind with eight each.

Setter Jason Harman clocked out at 23 assists and led the match in digs, once again, with eight total.

The Spartans end their time in Sioux City on Saturday afternoon. They will go to head to head with the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Chargers at noon.
