ST. LOUIS—The (RV) Spartans finished up their Kentucky trip, taking on Asbury University on Saturday morning. Asbury's offense proved to be too much, as the Eagles claimed victory over MBU.
The first half started off in Asbury's favor, as they were granted a free position shot less than two minutes in, resulting in their first goal. The Eagles scored one more before MBU successfully cleared the ball and scored their first (1-2). The Spartans would go on to score two more, trailing by just three heading into halftime (3-6).
Missouri Baptist continued playing tough defense in the second half, while the offense managed to push past Asbury for a few more goals. Ultimately, it was not enough to catch up to the Eagles, as they stayed steps ahead. Asbury would take the match by five (11-6).
Freshman
Jordan Haeusser led the Spartans in goals, scoring a total of three.
Maggie McDaniel put two past Asbury's keeper, while
Audrey Frost managed one.
Defender
Claire Donohue scooped up four groundballs, and goalie
Kaitlin Mills tacked on 10 total saves.
The Spartans continue the 2019 campaign on the road next weekend. They will travel to Georgia to take on Brenau University on Friday, March 8 and (7) Reinhardt University on Saturday, March 9.
