ST. LOUIS—Women's lacrosse traveled to Marshall, Mo. on Tuesday evening, to face off with the Vikings of Missouri Valley College. The Spartans started off strong but were ultimately beaten out by the Vikings in the second half.
Missouri Baptist's
Jordan Haeusser controlled the draw to start the match, however, a few Spartan turnovers granted the Vikings possession. MVC's Farewell scored the first goal of the game just minutes in. With nearly 15 minutes remaining in the half, Haeusser put MBU on the board, evening out the score (1-1). Farewell answered back, giving Missouri Valley the lead, once again. The Vikings would go on to score two more before
Ashley Avery gave MBU their second goal with just a minute to spare (2-4).
Missouri Valley got out to a hot start after the half, allowing them to extend their lead even further (9-2).
Jordan Haeusser and
Audrey Frost managed a couple more for the Spartans, but it was not enough to catch the Vikings. Turnovers would ultimately cost MBU, as they fell, 4-11.
Kaitlin Mills recorded 12 saves against Missouri Valley. The goalie also led Missouri Baptist in ground balls with a total of three.
The team returns to Spartan Field on Saturday, March 23. The Spartans will host Clarke University at 11 a.m.
