ST. LOUIS—Women's lacrosse hosted Clarke University (Iowa) on Saturday morning. The Spartans earned their third win, remaining perfect at home.
The Pride put themselves on the board less than 30 seconds into the game, but only held the lead for a few minutes. MBU's
Maggie McDaniel quickly answered back, scoring two and putting the Spartans ahead (2-1). Clarke would score three more in the first half, but it would not be enough to keep up with Missouri Baptist. The Spartans led by six heading into halftime (10-4).
Clarke gained momentum in the second half of the game, closing their deficit to four (10-6). The Pride pushed for a late run, but MBU maintained a steady pace, as they continued to outscore Clarke. The Spartans cruised to their second win at Spartan Field, 19-11.
Four Spartans scored three or more goals on the day. Freshman
Jordan Haeusser led the charge with five total.
Audrey Frost and
Maggie McDaniel followed just behind with four goals each, while
Madison Turnbeaugh put three past the Pride keeper.
Ellie DuBroc led the contest in ground balls, scooping up six total, and goalie
Kaitlin Mills put up 15 saves.
Coach Carlile and the squad return to Spartan Field on Wednesday, April 3. They'll go head to head with the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville at 1 p.m.
