ST. LOUIS—The women's lacrosse team hosted the Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) Lynx on Wednesday afternoon. It was a tight matchup, but the Spartans managed to come out victorious, 14-12. With this win, they stay perfect at home and advance to a record of 4-4.
The Spartans got out to a hot start in the first half, putting six goals past the Lynx in the first 12 minutes (6-0). From there, Belleville put their name on the board, while MBU remained scoreless for nearly 20 minutes. With a minute remaining,
Jordan Haeusser pushed past the Lynx defense for two more goals. The Spartans entered the half leading by three (8-5).
The second half was a game of back and forth as the Lynx attempted to stay in the game. They'd eventually tie the score at nine apiece, but MBU quickly answered back with goals from
Maggie McDaniel and Haeusser (11-9). The Lynx would score a couple more but ultimately could not catch the Spartans. Missouri Baptist took the win, 14-12.
Freshman
Jordan Haeusser led the contest in several categories, earning seven goals, five groundballs, five controlled draws and four caused turnovers.
The Spartans are back in action on Monday, April 8. They will host the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
