JOPLIN, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist University men's cross country team returned to action Saturday morning at the 30
th Annual Missouri Southern Stampede. For the second outing in a row, junior
Trey Peugeot paced the Spartans in the 8K race as the team finished 12
th out of 16 teams in the College Division made up of NAIA, NJCAA and NCCAA schools.
Missouri Baptist was one of three American Midwest Conference schools participating in the event and finished ahead of both in the team standings: Lyon College (15
th) and Williams Baptist University (16
th).
Peugot crossed the finish line at 27:39.40, which was first among MBU runners at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. He placed 37
th out 171 total participants and surpassed his previous personal best by more than 1 minute and 19 seconds.
The next Spartan to cross the finish line was senior
Brian Jordan (70
th), who also registered a PR of 29:08.40. Sophomore racewalk standout
Jordan Crawford was the only other Missouri Baptist runner to finish in the top 100. Crawford placed 78
th with a PR and clocked in at 29:24.10.
One other runner that finished with a college best included sophomore
Luke Little at 30:29.80 (107
th).
The next meet on the schedule for the Spartans is the Columbia College Invitational set for Saturday, October 5 at 9:30 a.m. in Columbia, Mo.
