ST. LOUIS— It wasn't a glamorous showing for MBU Women's Soccer but the Spartans found a way to maneuver a 1-0 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange on Wednesday at Spartan Field. The Spartans have now won three straight and remain second in the AMC at 4-1.
Missouri Baptist dominated possession and the shot count but the go-ahead goal eluded them for the first 60 minutes. It took a fortunate bounce with 25 minutes to go to change the outlook.
Off a corner kick in the 66th minute, the ball deflected off the arm of a Hannibal defender in the penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot and sophomore
Maddie Mrazik stepped forward to take the kick. Mrazik converted for her first goal of the season and it would hold up as the game-winner.
The final shot count favored MBU 9-2. Goalkeeper
Hanna Harrison needed just one save to earn her second clean sheet of the season.
Missouri Baptist will now finish off the fall portion of the schedule on Halloween against Williams Baptist. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 pm. Spectators are still not allowed on the property at Spartan Field per St. Louis County guidelines so catch the live broadcast on SpartanDigitalNetwork.com.
