MEN’S SOCCER DISMANTLES UHSP ON RAINY NIGHT AT SPARTAN FIELD

ST. LOUIS— On a messy night, weather-wise, at Spartan Field, MBU Men's Soccer laid a 6-0 beatdown on the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy Eutectics (UHSP). The Spartans are now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the AMC with one game remaining in the fall portion of the schedule.

It took 22 minutes to start the scoring in the first half. Michael Scanlon's cross into the box found Louie Perez who headed the ball just under the cross bar and in. Perez's third goal of the season made it 1-0 MBU.

The advantage doubled six minutes later when Reece Kral blistered a shot from the top of the penalty area giving the UHSP goalkeeper no chance. It was the first goal as a Spartan for Kral—a junior transfer from Yorkshire, England. The Spartans would go into the half ahead 2-0.

The score would remain the same all the way into the 76th minute. That's when the Mo. Bap offense really took over. A corner from Kral found Nico Tossici, who headed it toward the far post. Freshman Jack Carney was in the right place to power it home for the first goal of his career.

Dom Smith scored the first of his two goals in the 80th minute. A long range shot was spilled by the Eutectics goalkeeper and Smith charged in to clean up the rebound. The sophomore's second of the game came seven minutes and later was more of the highlight reel variety. A wonderstrike from nearly 30 yards out dipped just below the cross bar, once again giving the keeper no chance. Smith's fourth of the year made it 5-0.

Jack Carney would put the finishing touch on in the final minute, tapping home a feed from Louie Perez, for his second of the game. The final was 6-0 as the Spartans cruised to back-to-back victories for the first this season. The final shot count of 27-4 told the story for MBU.

The final showdown of the fall will come on Saturday night as Williams Baptist (7-1, 3-1 AMC) visits Spartan Field at 5:30. The winner between the Spartans and the Eagles will head into the spring in sole possession of second place in the AMC.
