SPARTANS RIDE WINNING STREAK TO THIRD CONFERENCE WIN

OTTAWA, Kan. – For the sixth consecutive game, and third straight conference game, Missouri Baptist Men's Volleyball walked away with a sweep defeating (RV) Ottawa University on Wednesday night. The relentless Spartan attack was led by Luka Cajic and Miljan Kastratovic's 31 combined kills.

On offense, MBU collectively hit .431 with 54 kills, two service aces, and 49 assists. Defensively, the visitors collected 33 digs, three blocks, and allowed the Braves to hit just .152 in the three sets.

Set one was a relatively quick affair as the Spartan offense came out firing on all cylinders. Kastratovic collected five kills in the 25-16 opening set victory.

The second set was closer in the score but MBU maintained control the entire time, never trailing after scoring the first two points on a kill by Cajic and an Ottawa attack error. The Braves battled back, going on a late 6-3 run. Unphased by the home momentum, Kastratovic ended the comeback bid with a kill off the assist from Jason Harman.

The first test for the Spartans came at the beginning of set three falling behind 5-3. Drew Iliff put the Spartans within one followed by a Kastratovic service ace that tied things back at five.

A few plays later, offense by Cajic sparked a small mid-set run to give the Spartans a lead. Once they had the lead, they never looked back. The third set finished with another 25-21 final, giving the Spartans their sixth straight sweep.

"It feels good to get a few conference sweeps in a row," said head coach Tom Young. "We just have to keep working to get better and better." The Spartans have not lost a set since being swept by the now third-ranked Park University Pirates on February 12.

Luka Cajic collected 18 kills on Wednesday hitting .571 with seven digs. Miljan Kastratovic had a strong performance as well with 13 kills and two service aces. Jason Harman propelled the offense with 45 assists.

On defense, Skyler Capllonch and Jack Huizinga combined for 14 digs and no reception errors.

Missouri Baptist Men's Volleyball stays in town for their next matchup on Thursday against the Eutectics from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
