ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist Football opens its 11-game schedule in a brand-new home on August 29 against Lyon College. Their first game at Spartan Field will be held under the lights beginning at 6 p.m.
Â
This will be the fourth consecutive year that MBU opens against Lyon. The Spartans are 0-3 in their previous three attempts against the Scots on opening night. The other non-conference opponents include Indiana Wesleyan, Madonna, Taylor, and Judson.
Â
With nine of the same opponents from the 2019 schedule, Madonna University and Judson University will be the only two changes. The newcomers to the Spartan schedule replace the Midland and Walsh games from last season.
Â
Conference play kicks off early in the season in a week two road matchup against the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees. Three more non-conference matchups are next, followed by the remaining five conference games against Olivet Nazarene, Trinity International, Saint Xavier, St. Francis (Ill.), and Robert Morris.
Â
Fans should have no issue remembering whether the team is at home or on the road this season as the team alternates travel every other game, beginning with the first home game. The Spartans are looking for a strong bounce-back season after going just 2-9 in 2019 despite playing in several closely contested matchups.
