ST. LOUIS—MBU Women's Soccer improved to 2-0 in conference play after a 2-0 win over the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Saturday at Spartan Field.
Claire Andersen and
Gianna Gore provided the scoring for the Spartans.
It was Andersen's first career tally that opened the scoring in the 13
th minute. Gore's cross into the heart of the penalty area was a little behind Andersen but the freshman tracked it down and managed to get a shot off. It eluded the arms of UHSP goalkeeper Jordyn Besserman into the far corner.
In the 63
rd minute, Gore was involved again—this time tallying her fourth goal of the season.
Mara George played the Union, Mo. native into space and Gore was fortunate as her intended cross to the back post ricocheted off the shoulder of Besserman and in.
The final shot count was a lopsided 13-0 with six on target for the Spartans.
Maddie Mrazik added a second assist on Gore's goal while
Mara George finished with two helpers, also providing a second assist on Andersen's marker.
The Spartans will have a week off before heading to Conway, Ark. to face Central Baptist next Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
