CONWAY, Ark. – Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer made it three straight wins in conference play with a 4-0 victory over Central Baptist College on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans held the Mustangs without even a single shot attempt in one of the most dominant team performances of the season so far.
For the second straight game, the Spartans opened the scoring in the 13
th minute.
Madi Dunahue's free kick rang off the cross bar and the rebound fell to
Mara George who deposited her second goal of the season into an empty net.
Five minutes into the second half, pressure from Dunahue forced a turnover in CBC territory. Dunahue found herself one on one with the goalkeeper and the junior didn't miss for her second goal and seventh point of the season.
Gianna Gore continued her breakout campaign with a goal in the 60
th minute. Gore was played in just outside the six-yard box by
Claire Andersen and tucked a shot inside the far post. With her fifth of the year, the junior from Union, Mo. has now tied a career high in goals (5) and points (13).
Gore added an assist on the final goal of the day, a highlight reel effort from graduate senior
Hannah Leahy. Off a corner kick, the ball fell to Leahy who ripped a bullet a from 20 yards out that dipped just under the top bar. In her 40
th career game as a Spartan, it was Leahy's first career goal.
The Spartans improved to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in the AMC with the victory. Next on the schedule is a road trip to Hannibal-LaGrange on Wednesday. Start time is set for 3:30 pm.
