WOMEN’S SOCCER SECURES TOP FOUR AMC SEED

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – MBU Women's Soccer used a dominant second half to roll past Williams Baptist 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans are now guaranteed home field in the AMC Quarterfinals on November 5.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, the Spartans were fortunate to take a 1-0 lead just after the hour mark. WBU's Andrea Soto Madrid attempted to play the ball back to her goalkeeper but miscommunication between the two resulted in an own goal.

The mistake would prove to be the firestarter Mo Bap needed as, just three minutes later, Mara George darted into the Eagles' penalty area and drew a foul. George was given the opportunity to take her first career PK and the sophomore did not waste the chance. Her third goal of the year made it 2-0.

The capper came in the 74th minute from forward Skyla Koch. Koch converted a rebound from close range for her second goal of the season.

The Spartans outshot the Eagles 6-3. Hanna Harrison recorded her fourth clean sheet of the fall.

One game remains now in the regular season – a Saturday date with No. 13 Columbia at Spartan Field. Start time for senior day is scheduled for 4 pm. The Spartans are likely to earn the four seed in next week's AMC Tournament.
