CONWAY, Ark. – Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer tied Central Baptist 1-1 on Saturday afternoon in Conway, Ark. The Spartans are now 1-1-1 in AMC play.
After 50 scoreless minutes on Saturday, center back
Richie Taylor broke the deadlock early in the second half.
Reece Kral's corner kick was redirected to the back post by
Rasmus Svensson. That's where Taylor was waiting to head it home to give the Spartans the lead. It was Taylor's first goal of the season and fifth point.
The Mustangs responded with a corner kick goal of their own to tie the game in the 71
st minute and neither team could jump out in front from there.
"Good battle today," commented Head Coach
Jake Alvernia. "The guys were up for it. Some good performances, but we can't miss the 5-6 good chances we had inside the box."
The Spartans (4-6-1, 1-1-1 AMC) will now travel to Hannibal-LaGrange (4-3-1, 0-1-1 AMC) for a tough midweek test on Wednesday. Start time is set for 1 pm.
