ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer could not generate much offense in a 2-0 defeat to (RV) Benedictine College (Kan.) (9-3-1) on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.
The Spartans went toe-to-toe with the Ravens, a mainstay in the national polls for the last several years, but scoring chances were hard to come by against a rigid BC defense. MBU didn't register its first shot on goal until the 89
th minute.
Meanwhile at the other end of the field, Benedictine only had four shots on goal but capitalized on two of them. Nicole Patterson converted off a Spartan turnover for the opening goal in the 23
rd minute. Emma Strecker scored the insurance marker in the 75
th minute to make it 2-0.
Ashton Lindsley started in goal for MBU and made two saves in a hard luck loss.
The Spartans (5-4, 5-2 AMC) will look to snap a three-game skid when they travel to AMC foe Lyon College (3-3, 3-1 AMC) on Tuesday afternoon. Kickoff in Batesville, Ark. is scheduled for 1 pm.
