MBU TOPS MISSOURI VALLEY TO CLAIM FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

MARSHALL, Mo. – Junior Jordan Haeusser had a career day on Saturday with 7 goals and 4 assists to lead Missouri Baptist Women's Lacrosse to a commanding 19-9 victory at Missouri Valley. Improving to 5-1 overall, the Spartans have now matched their best start in program history, a feat that they achieved in both 2014 and 2017.

Early on, the host Vikings didn't make it easy on the Spartans, who have now won five games in a row on the road. For the first time this season, an MBU opponent struck first as Missouri Valley's Katie Montini scored 1:49 into the contest. The two teams traded goals and it wasn't until the 18:31 mark that Jordan Haeusser put the Spartans on top for the first time in the game.

Following back-to-back Viking goals from Katie Montini and Sierra Ashley, the Spartans made their move with eight unanswered goals. The 8-0 stretch that also silenced MVC spanned from the 7:01 mark in the first half to the 20:33 mark in the second. Helping the Spartans distance themselves was a balanced attack from Kamryn Bell, back-to-back goals from Chayleb Deves, three-straight from Haeusser, and another set of back-to-back goals from Caroline Karr.

With an eight-point lead midway through the second period, Missouri Baptist had to tighten up on defense after the Vikings scored three of the next four goals in three minutes. The mini-run by MVC narrowed the gap to six, however, the Spartans got back to their dominant ways and outscored the MoVal 5-1 to close out the game.

Jordan Haeusser recorded a career-high 11 points, while also tying her best marks in both goals (7) and assists (4). Numbers worthy of KCAC Offensive Player of the Week consideration, Haeusser now has 27 goals on the season and is tied for the team-lead in assists with 7.

Narrowly holding off Haeusser for the team lead in goals is Chayleb Deves, who added four more on Saturday to bring her season total to 29. Also registering multi-goal games against the Vikings were Caroline Karr (3) and Kamryn Bell (2).

The Spartans will carry an unblemished KCAC record of 4-0 into their four-game homestand beginning Thursday. MBU will host Clarke University (2-3, 2-2 KCAC) at Spartan Field at 3 p.m.
