SPARTANS STAY PERFECT IN KCAC, BLOW PAST CLARKE

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in conference play Tuesday while extending its winning streak to six with a 16-6 rout of Clarke University. The Spartans (6-1, 5-0 KCAC) led throughout the entire contest despite playing down 1-3 players at times.

As has been the case during the current winning streak, MBU continues to lean on its high-octane offense, putting up 15+ goals for the sixth game in a row. The Spartans currently rank seventh in the NAIA in goals per game (16.83), points per game (24.00), and scoring margin (+9.83).

(RV) Missouri Baptist opened the game with three consecutive goals in less than two minutes via Sameera Hammad, Brianna Fischer, and Chayleb Deves. Natalie Patrick added another goal for the Spartans to take a 4-0 lead before Clarke finally found its way onto the board. By the end of the half, MBU had already reached double digits, with Jordan Haeusser, Kamryn Bell, and Caroline Karr joining the goal-scoring party. Deves led the pack with four first-half goals as the Spartans headed into the break up 10-3.

The visitors from Dubuque, Iowa, scored twice early in the second half but were unable to cut into the Spartan lead. With 20 minutes left in the contest, MBU added three more goals in a short window to provide a larger cushion.

Chayleb Deves and Kamryn Bell tied for the team lead in points, with the former matching her career-high in goals with six on nine shot attempts (3-for-5 FPS). Bell reached her six-point performance with three goals and all three of the team's assists.

Other Spartans with multi-goal games included Sameera Hammad (2) and Brianna Fischer (2).

Sophomore Amelia Shaw logged the start in goal on Tuesday and was credited with the win and three saves. The St. Louis native allowed five goals in just over 40 minutes of action.

As a team, the Spartans carried a considerable advantage over the Pride in every category, including shots (38-17), shots on goal (31-14), caused turnovers (5-3), and especially ground balls (35-6).

MBU faces its stiffest competition yet this weekend with away trips to (RV) Ottawa University (Kan.) and (4) Benedictine College (Kan.).
