ST. LOUIS— A 76^th minute goal was the difference on Wednesday night as Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer fell 1-0 to No. 21 Missouri Valley at Spartan Field. The defeat dropped the Spartans' record to 6-5 overall. MVC improved to 10-6.
 
In an evenly played first half, the Spartans had the best chance on a free kick by Madi Dunahue. From just outside the box, the sophomore's attempt was deflected off the crossbar by Vikings' GK Marina Barneda.
 
Missouri Valley controlled possession for long stretches of the second half and eventually cashed in with just under 15 minutes to go. Nicole Rubio's free kick narrowly eluded the outstretched hands of MBU keeper Ashton Lindsley.
 
The Spartans could not mount a late comeback and saw their non-conference record fall to 0-3 in 2021. It's back to AMC action on Saturday as the regular season concludes against Stephens. Kickoff in Columbia is scheduled for 1 pm.
