ST. LOUIS, MO. – Allison Pingel and Shelby Sievers were announced as conference weekly award winners on Monday for their contributions to the Spartans' perfect 6-0 week. Both players are receiving weekly awards for the first time in their careers.
Sievers, a junior from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, won the Pitcher of the Week after toeing the rubber in five of the six games collecting four wins, two shutouts, a save, and a minuscule 0.31 ERA. In 22.1 innings, she allowed just 13 hits, one earned run, and collected three strikeouts.
Pingel won AMC Player of the Week after pacing the Spartans on the offensive side. The senior from Farmington, Missouri hit .375 in 16 at-bats with a double, two home runs, nine RBIs, and three runs scored. Her best performance came against Stephens where she collected three hits, two runs, a home run, and five RBIs to lead her team to a 9-7 victory.
The pairing led the Spartans to a perfect 6-0 week sweeping doubleheaders against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, William Woods, and Stephens College.
