No. 8 Missouri Baptist University Softball kicks off the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 30, at noon against Baker University. All games will be held at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Busse Field.
The Spartans clinched the regular-season title on Friday, May 1, earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, which begins on Monday, May 11.
MBU enters as the No. 1 seed in the tournament after leading the Heart 37-10 (23-5), while Baker (26-21, 14-14) sits at No. 8. The winner will advance to face either No. 4 Benedictine or No. William Penn on Friday, May 1, at noon.
The Spartans last played Baker on Saturday, March 14, where they swept the two-game series 2-1 and 11-1.
Brooklynn Fischer and
Kaylie Brake each claimed a win in the circle, while a handful of batters notched the scoreboard, including home runs from
Miranda Ladson,
Makayla Johnson,
Allison Leigraf and
Alexi Sanchez.
