FISHER JOINS MBU FOOTBALL STAFF AS QUARTERBACKS COACH

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University head football coach Jason Burianek has announced the hiring of Isaac Fisher as quarterbacks coach for the Spartans. Fisher comes to MoBap after a prolific playing career and experience on the coaching staff at NCAA DII McKendree University.

During his time as a football graduate assistant for the Bearcats, Fisher was a key coach in the defensive backs room. As for his quarterback expertise, Fisher's resume as McKendree's starter from 2012-15 speaks for itself. By the end of his career, Fisher rewrote the Bearcat record books for every major single-season and career passing record as well as for total offense. He's the only player in McKendree Football history to amass more than 10,000 yards of total offense (10,257) and finished with career records for passing yards (8,508), completions (780), passing attempts (1,255), completion % (.622) and passing TDs (64). Fisher was equally dangerous on the ground racking up 1,749 career rushing yards.

"Isaac brings a unique perspective to the quarterback room as someone who played the position at an incredibly high level," Burianek said. "He understands this level of football and the level of commitment and work that it takes to be great. I have had the opportunity to coach his older brother, recruit Isaac to McKendree and have the utmost respect for him is as a coach and leader of men."

Fisher's long list of accomplishments resulted in numerous honors and awards including 2015 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference, All-GLVC Honorable Mention in 2013 and 2014, and four GLVC Offensive Player of the Week accolades.

After completing his college football eligibility, the Washington, Ill. native had the opportunity to play overseas in 2016 as a member of the Wasa Royals in the Vaahteraliigc (Maple League), which is the highest level of football in Finland.

Beyond football, Fisher was also a two-year starter at third base for McKendree's baseball program.

With the reshuffling of positions on MBU's staff, Fisher's arrival fills the void left by former defensive coordinator Joe Bowden, who was recently added to the staff at Tennessee State University. Bowden joined a star-studded cast at TSU that's headlined by head coach Eddie George, a Heisman Trophy winner and NFL great, along with former MBU defensive line coach and NFL standout Clyde Simmons.
