SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist Spartans Women's Golf team concluded the Evangel Fall Invitational in 7
th place on Tuesday. The two-day tournament took place at Bill and Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield, Mo. MBU shot scores of 361 and 357 to finish at +158. The tournament was won by Kansas Wesleyan who completed two rounds at +66 [310-316].
Missouri Baptist finished Day 1 in a tie for 7
th place and despite firing combined scores that were four shots better on Day 2, they were unable to improve their standing.
The Spartans were led individually once again by
Sophia Welch who finished in a tie for 18
th place at +34 [92-82]. The sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo. improved her positioning by 11 spots from the first day to the second.
Other Spartan contributors were sophomore
Lauren Ice in 26
th place at 37-over, graduate student
Carlie Van Patten in 29
th at +41, and freshman
Chelsea Young in 38
th at +46. The fifth starter for the Spartans, who did not figure in the team scoring, was freshman
Brooklyn Howard who carded a +123.
