CABOT, Ark. –  The men's and women's golf programs both took third place at the CBC Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Cypress Creek Golf Club in Cabot, Ark.

The Spartan men tallied 916 total strokes over three rounds, 11 off from the leading Mineral Area College, and finished 52 over par. The women had 743 strokes in two rounds, shooting +167 to stay ahead of fourth-place Central Baptist College by four strokes.

The men were led by a sixth-place individual finish from
Luke Gardner at 223 strokes (+7). The junior from Springfield, Mo., shot a 74 in round one on Monday, a 77 in round two, and ended the tournament on Tuesday at 72 with four birdies.

Logan Malott rebounded from a 79 in round one with a pair of 74s to land inside the top 10 at number eight out of 57 participants. Not far behind him was teammate
Tomas Frencia in 11
th place with 228 strokes (+5).
Gonzalo Pacheco Gonzalez, playing independently, tied Frencia for 11
th place after responding to an 83 in round one with a 72 and a 73 in the final two.

For the women,
Elena Montalban shot a 90 on day one and an 88 on Tuesday to finish +34 and in 15
th of 33. Senior
Lauren Ice was on her heels, one stroke off Montalban at 179 total strokes after shooting +15 on day one and +20 on day two.
