WOMEN’S SOCCER MAKES A COMEBACK VICTORY AGAINST LYON

BATESVILLE, Ark.- Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer placed a 3-2 victory over Lyon College (1-13) on Saturday over the road in Arkansas. The Spartans (10-4-2) now have only one conference game left in the regular season.
The Scots wasted no time and opened scoring in the fourth and 19th minute. The two-goal lead held until just before the end of the first half. In the 41st minute junior Saige Stowers made her debut goal of the season from near the 20-yard line. Off a long cross from Claire Anderson to the middle of the field, Stowers was able to bring the ball under control and slot it past the Scots' goalkeeper Rhyan Hioki.
Stower's goal fed the Spartans, and they were able to tie the scoring up just three minutes after. From a MBU throw in the ball was uncontrollable bounced around by Lyon defenders. Midfielder Simone Simas made contact sending a low ball past the opposite side of the Scots' goalkeeper.
At the half Missouri Baptist gained possession of the ball and led in shots 11-3. The scoring from either team seized until Forward Skyla Koch settled a corner kick to Casey Gutting in the 74th minute of the game. Gutting, a Saint Louis native, acted quick to tap the ball into the bottom left corner untouched from the goalkeeper.
MBU led in shots 21-3 total. Spartan keeper Hanna Harrison was fortunate enough to only make one save in her 75 minutes of play time.
Women's Soccer will play on to their final Conference game of the season on Saturday Oct. 29 vs William Woods University (5-8-2). The Spartans travel to Fulton, Mo. for a 1:00 p.m. game.
