ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University Women's Soccer improved to 2-0 in the AMC after blanking University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Saturday. Piper Brown, Brianna Merchant, and Madi Dunahue all scored in the first half of the 3-0 shutout.
It was freshman Piper Brown's second career goal that opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Brown seized control of the ball and sent a long kick from the far-right side that eluded the goalkeeper's hands and straight into the net.
Brianna Merchant added to the scoring with her second goal of the season just nine minutes after Brown's tally. The senior sent a long ball from the 20-yard line soaring just beyond the goalkeeper's reach.
With a comfortable 2-0 lead, Missouri Baptist (6-3-2, 2-0 AMC) added one more insurance goal in the 42nd minute. Dunahue joined Brown and Merchant with MBU's third and final goal of the game after a setup from Mara George and Casey Gutting.
MBU out-shot the Eutectics 15-0 in the first half and remained in control throughout despite a scoreless second half. The Spartans concluded the game with a 23-1 total shot advantage.
Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer will return home for its next two AMC matches beginning with Williams Baptist University (0-9-1, 0-2 AMC) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.
