COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Spartan Women's Golf team finished in sixth place at the Cougar Classic hosted by Columbia College, with a final team score of 758 (+182). The host Cougars won the title with a 641 (+65) score at the tournament played at Columbia (Mo.) Country Club.

Leading the way for the Spartans for the second tournament in a row was sophomore Sophia Welch who finished the two-day tournament at +30. That was good for 22^nd place overall among 46 entrants.

Much like the results of the FHU Fall Invite a week ago, the rest of the Spartans contributing to the overall team score were bunched between 34^th and 37^th place. Freshman Chelsea Young finished in 34^th at +49, with graduate student Carlie Van Patten at +50. Sophomore Lauren Ice trimmed five strokes off of her day one score and finished at +53 in 37^th place.

Also entered for the Spartans was senior Taylor Stimpson who finished at +61 (205) in 43^rd place.  Not far behind, freshman Ryen Tindall carded a +65 which was good for 44^th place.

The Spartan women will take a couple of weeks off before concluding their abbreviated fall season on October 24^th and 25^th at the Tabor College Fall Invite at Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan.
