COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Spartan Women's Golf team finished in sixth place at the Cougar Classic hosted by Columbia College, with a final team score of 758 (+182). The host Cougars won the title with a 641 (+65) score at the tournament played at Columbia (Mo.) Country Club.
Leading the way for the Spartans for the second tournament in a row was sophomore
Sophia Welch who finished the two-day tournament at +30. That was good for 22
nd place overall among 46 entrants.
Much like the results of the FHU Fall Invite a week ago, the rest of the Spartans contributing to the overall team score were bunched between 34
th and 37
th place. Freshman
Chelsea Young finished in 34
th at +49, with graduate student
Carlie Van Patten at +50. Sophomore
Lauren Ice trimmed five strokes off of her day one score and finished at +53 in 37
th place.
Also entered for the Spartans was senior
Taylor Stimpson who finished at +61 (205) in 43
rd place. Not far behind, freshman
Ryen Tindall carded a +65 which was good for 44
th place.
The Spartan women will take a couple of weeks off before concluding their abbreviated fall season on October 24
th and 25
th at the Tabor College Fall Invite at Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan.
