MBU SHOWCASES DEPTH IN ROAD AMC VICTORY

CONWAY, Ark. – In its first conference action since before the Thanksgiving break, Missouri Baptist women's basketball showed perseverance to stay undefeated in the American Midwest Conference.

Depth and toughness were on display for MBU (5-2, 3-0 in AMC) in a 68-54 win at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse against Central Baptist College (CBC). The Spartans struggled slightly in keeping pace through the first half, but a stellar run in the second propelled MBU to a victory and showcased the depth of a squad that saw 10 players score.

The return of guard Bryce Dowell from injury was a boon for the offense, as the junior logged 16 points off the bench from 28 minutes. Tionne Taylor led the team in scoring for the fourth game in a row, scoring 17 with three steals and three rebounds.

MoBap fell behind by as much as 13 in the second quarter, as the hot shooting of the Mustangs left the Spartans chasing the game. MBU would close that gap considerably by halftime with seven straight point and harnessed that momentum coming out of the locker room.

CBC would fire home two 3-pointers to open the third, but those would be the only Mustang points scored until MBU took control. The Spartans would score 18 unanswered and quickly built the advantage into double digits for a convincing 14-point win, their third from three in the league play.

Other Spartan stat lines of note included Alexis Allstun (6 points, 4 rebounds), Deyana Dodd (6 points, 4 assists, 3 steals), and Kasey Rice (9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists).

Missouri Baptist will continue the AMC road trip in the Natural State with a matchup in Walnut Ridge, Ark. on Saturday, Dec. 3rd against the Williams Baptist at 1:00 pm.
