FOUR HAT TRICKS HIGHLIGHT MOBAP SHUTOUT OF SAINT MARY

ST. LOUIS – The back of the cage was rattling nonstop in No. 8 Missouri Baptist's conference matchup with University of Saint Mary (USM). The Spartans blanked the Spires en route to a 22-0 victory.

MBU (6-2, 3-0 KCAC) hardly lost possession of the ball and put on a clinic offensively, seeing four different players score three or more on USM (1-4, 0-3 KCAC). Mobap handled business by quickly taking a lead and not looking back, scoring five goals in the first and another nine before halftime.

Senior Ashley Avery continued her run of good form, notching the first two goals for the Spartans. The Chesterfield native went on to score another and assist on two more for a five-point performance. Joining Avery in the five point or more club was junior Chayleb Deves (four goals, two assists), sophomore Caroline Karr (four goals, one assist), senior Jordan Haeusser (three goals, two assists) and junior Kamryn Bell (two goals, three assists).

The goalkeeping duo of starter Amelia Shaw and Kevynn Knoettner didn't allow a goal and turned away the only three shots on target from the Spires. The Spartan midfielders and defenders in front of goal were eager to protect the net as well, allowing just four shots in total, forcing six turnovers and collecting 24 ground balls.

Other notable Spartan performances included MacKaylee Miller (two goals, one assist), Brianna Fischer (two goals, one assist) and Lydia Cornett (one goal, two assists).

Missouri Baptist will test its undefeated conference record on the road in Nebraska for its final regular season road game. The Spartans travel to Midland University to face the Warriors on Friday, March 25th at 7:00 PM before their final four games on the slate, all taking place at Spartan Field.
