FREMONT, Nebraska – Spartan women's lacrosse extended its streak of wins to four in yet another offensive clinic. Mobap routed Midland University 16-2 in its final regular season road game of the season.
MBU (7-2, 4-0 KCAC) took the game by the scruff and scored eight goals across the first two quarters on Midland (1-4, 1-3 KCAC). Mobap nearly had a first half shutout until the hosts scored late with 3:49 before intermission. Things would slow down in the third with a lone goal for MBU being the only tally before seven more scores from the visitors in the fourth earned the Spartans their fifth game of the season with 15 or more goals.
Senior midfielder
Jordan Haeusser scored another five goals to extend her season total to 27. The Spartans outshot the Warriors at a nearly five-to-one clip (34-7) and forced 12 saves out of the Warriors goalkeeper. In total, seven different Mobap players scored, with Haeusser and fellow middie
Ashley Avery (two goals, three assists) both registering five points.
The Spartan defense in front of goalkeeper
Amelia Shaw was solid, with the foursome of
Rebekah Broughton,
Natalie Patrick,
Mya Allison and
Loryn Dotson only needing Shaw to make two saves. It was the fifth game this year that the backline has allowed three or fewer scores.
Other notable Spartan performances included
Chayleb Deves (three goals, four ground balls),
Lydia Cornett (two goals, four ground balls, three caused turnovers),
MacKaylee Miller (two goals) and
Kamryn Bell (one goal, two assists).
Missouri Baptist will now travel home for a four-game home stand to finish out the regular season. The Spartans will play host to the (RV) Ottawa Braves on Thursday, March 31st at 4:00 PM at Spartan Field in a crucial KCAC matchup.
