ST. LOUIS - After a 4-for-4 performance on field goals in Week 1 vs. Lyon College, Sophomore placekicker Jonah Cox has been named the Mid-States Football Association Special Teams Player of the Week. An O'Fallon, Mo. native, Cox connected on kicks of 24, 35, 29, and 28 yards to account for all 12 points scored by the Spartans in their season-opening loss. The four successful attempts and 12 total points are both a school record for kickers at Missouri Baptist.

Not to be outdone, linebacker Blake Kight claimed the MSFA Defensive Player of the Week award after registering 11 tackles vs Lyon.  The junior from Mount Carmel, Ill. was credited with 10 solo tackles and two tackles for loss.

The MSFA Player of the Week awards are voted on by a panel of representatives of each of the participating conference schools. These are the first weekly honors for both Cox and Kight.
