ST. LOUIS- The Spartans we back on the road after they played a short stint at home, facing off against Hannibal-LaGrange University in one of the last games of the regular season.
Matteo Gigliozzi made the start in goal today, leading the Spartans defense against the Trojans. Both teams were struggling to get shots off with a total of six shots on goal total the entire game. The Spartans lone shot on goal came from freshman
Sergej Misic. The Belgrade, Serbia native took his chance 13 minutes into the game, but the HLGU goalie was able to make the save. The first period ended with both sides scoreless.
The second half the game the Spartans put up two more shots, one coming from
Marko Dordevic and the other from
Sean Bannon. Both shots were blocked by Trojan defenders before they could make it to the net. The game winning goal came the way of the Trojans with 25 minutes left in the game. The Spartans were unable to score the equalizer, dropping the game 0-1.
MBU will be heading into their final matchup against Central Baptist University with a conference record of 3-2-1. They will be taking on the Mustangs next Saturday (Sept 28) at 4 PM in Conway, Ark.
