At (18) MidAmerica Nazarene, MBU fought hard and nearly erased an eight point deficit in the fourth quarter, but eventually fell behind and lost 72-66.
Early in the contest MidAmerica Nazarene went on a short run to gain a six point lead over the Spartans, but MoBap quickly answered to bring it back to 12-12.
Shortly after, the Spartans went on an 11-0 run to gain a 23-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter went back and forth and MBU held onto a six point lead with just under a minute and a half remaining in the first half.
In that remaining time MidAmerica Nazarene was able to get four fastbreak points along with another bucket to make it 35-35 going into halftime.
The two teams went back and forth for the first portion of the third quarter before the Pioneers pulled away to an eight point lead going into the final frame of action.
A 7-0 run for the Spartans put them down by just one with just over five minutes remaining in the game, but three scores in a row put MBU down again with too little time remaining to make a push and they fell by a score of 72-66.
A handful of Spartans finished the game with double digit points with Azori Edwards leading the pack with 18.
Tyler Butler, Bryce Dowell, and Amar Mansour all had a great night rebounding as they pulled down nine, eight, and eight rebounds respectively.
The stellar rebounding gave MoBap an edge on the second chance points with 20 against MNU's seven.
On Nov. 8 the Spartans will be back on the court, this time at the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC for their first home game of the year against St. Ambrose at 5:30 pm.
