MBU FINISHES ONE OF TWO IN DAY ONE OF KENTUCKY

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- Missouri Baptist University softball took a trip to Kentucky this week to take on some tough opponents in the Bluegrass State. Their first double header was against ranked opponents, No. 20 Campbellsville University.

GAME ONE
The Spartans went deep into their pitching roster as Shelby Sievers, Alexandria Cafolla, Olivia Leaver, and McKenna Joern all had their time on the mound. With Sievers only allowing one hit and the Spartans with none of their own, the game remained scoreless in the first two innings.

Campbellsville was able to pull ahead in the bottom of the third with a homerun bringing the score to 2-0. With a couple more runs scored, Cafolla was subbed in to close out the inning. Leaver came into pitch starting off in the bottom of the fourth. After a couple of walked batters, Joern stepped up to take her place. After another couple more runs in the fourth the score was to 6-0. The Spartans were unfortunately not able to catch up to the Tigers. With five hits the opportunities were there but the team was unable to capitalize on them.

GAME TWO
Missouri Baptist was able to get a head start against Campbellsville this go around. With a single by Molly McPheeters in the top of the second, the junior was able to bring in Allison Leigraf. The Tigers were able to answer in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game 1-1. The game ended after the fifth inning with a tie ball game. Due to the unfortunate lighting situation, it was too dark to continue playing.

The Spartans will be continuing the Kentucky trip, heading to Columbia to take on Lindsey Wilson tomorrow (Feb. 24) for another double header.
