COLUMBIA, Ky.- Missouri Baptist University finished out the month with a double header against (RV) Lindsey Wilson College this Friday (Feb. 24).
GAME ONE
The Spartans started of the first inning with
Meghan Hager and
Madalyn Bone making it on base but were left stranded as the next three batters were out. The Blue Raiders came out swinging, hitting two home runs in a row, bringing the score 2-0. MBU was able to put up a point in the top of the second with
Abagail Cafolla scoring on an error by second base. After going back and forth for the next few innings, LWC hit another homerun during the bottom of the fifth.
Shelby Sievers answered right back with a homerun of her own in the next inning.
The top of the seventh was the Spartans last chance to make a comeback.
Ellie Wessel was able to make it on base with a single.
Sheldon Underwood came in to pinch run for the graduate student and not only stole second but third as well.
Molly McPheeters was able to bring Underwood in, making it a tie ball game. The Spartan's defense was unable to hold out with the Blue Raiders scoring in the bottom of the seventh. Missouri Baptist fell in game one, 4-3.
GAME TWO
The first inning started in the same fashion as in game one with a home run by Lindsey Wilson, scoring two runs. The Blue Raiders put up another point in the bottom on the third, widening the gap. The Spartans first set of points came in the top of the sixth. With a double to left field by
Kolby Brake, both
Allison Leigraf and
Natalie Archer were able to score. Lindsey Wilson brought the score 5-2 in the sixth, and the Spartans had one more shot in the seventh to even things out. McPheeters was able to score on a passed ball but unfortunately MBU was unable to make up the difference.
The Spartans are kicking off next month (Mar.) with a double header on the first against Evangel University starting at 1 PM. Â
