WEST POINT, Miss. – On Tuesday, the Missouri Baptist Women's golf team finished two days of competition at the Blue Mountain Classic in West Point, Miss. hosted by Blue Mountain Christian University. The lady linksters finished in ninth place, at a combined +204 for the tournament.
Individually the Spartans were paced by sophomore
Lauren Ice who finished tied for 35
th place among 54 golfers with a +46 (190) on the Par 72 course. Freshman
Ryen Tindall had a strong second day to move up to a tie for 38
th place by carding a 196 (+52). Tindall's 89 on the second day of competition was the lowest score among any of the MBU women in either round of the tournament. It allowed her to move up 10 positions in the standings from the first day to the second.
Grad student
Carlie Van Patten was 44
th overall at +57, followed by sophomore
Sophia Welch in 45
th at +58, with freshman
Chelsea Young coming in at +60 (204). MBU had a sixth team member compete, but her scores did not count towards the team score recorded for the team of five in the tournament. Freshman
Brooklyn Howard finished in 54
th place with a score of +135 (279).
The women's team will take a break from competition until April 17 and 18 when they host the MBU Invitational at Spencer T Olin Golf Club in Alton, Ill.
