Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- Missouri Baptist University Men's Soccer traveled down to Florida for their first road game of the season to take on Florida Memorial University.

It was a fight from start to finish, both teams getting shots off early into the game. 12 minutes in, MBU gained the advantage when Florida Memorial forward, Zach Stokes was sent out of the game with a red card. Even though the Spartans were a man up, there was no backing down for FMU. With eight minutes left in the first half, the Lions scored the first goal of the game.

The Spartans weren't going to take that lying down. Shortly after they drew a foul, earning a free kick in the Lions half. Horsham, England native, Jack Griffiths stepped up to take the kick for the Spartans, launching it across the front of the goal. Sophomore, Marko Dordevic was waiting and ready, heading the ball right passed the FMU goalie.

The Spartans were kept alive by senior Callum McKinlay. The Middlesbrough, England native made a major save with only a minute left in the half, keeping the score 1-1. McKinlay continued to hold his own in goal. Early into the second half, the senior found himself in a one-on-one situation with FMU midfielder, Jahiem Rose. Rose took a long shot trying to make it past McKinlay, but he was able to get a hand on it and knock it just wide of the goal. Throughout the course of the game, McKinlay was able to fend off seven of the eight shots on goal.

On Monday (Sep 4), the Spartans will be back in Miami Gardens to take on (11) St. Thomas University starting at 12 PM (ET).
