Nevada, Mo. - MBU had another tough AMC game at Cottey as they shot below 35% from the field leading to a 75-52 loss.
Through the first five minutes of the contest the two conference opponents were deadlocked at nine points apiece.
Following the 9-9 tie Cottey mounted a 14-4 run to win the quarter 23-13.
The second quarter was a defensive showcase holding each other to minimal points on the offensive end as Cottey took a 30-24 lead into halftime.
At the break, Sophia Horton was the only player with double digit points with 11.
Cottey came out of the break firing on both ends of the court as they limited MoBap to just nine points while putting up 27 points.
During the third quarter Tyler Butler accounted for six of MBU's nine.
Down 57-33, the Spartans had a big mountain to climb and they were able to win the quarter, but not by enough to make a comeback as they fell by a score of 75-52.
Horton finished the game with 17 points and Jalexis Russell was able to pull down eight rebounds.
The struggle on offense really disrupted the Spartans as they only knocked down two three pointers and shot 32.3 percent from the field.
MBU will look to get back in the win column on Thursday when they travel to Harris-Stowe for another AMC matchup.
