ST. LOUIS - On the road at Harris-Stowe in a conference match the Spartans jumped to a lead early in the contest and never let the Hornets come back in a 77-66 win.

The Spartans came out of the locker room ready to go as they quickly grabbed an 8-0 lead over the Hornets.

Nyah Ford logged 10 minutes in the first quarter as she put up six points, two assists, and two rebounds.

The start of the second quarter was much like the first as MBU increased their lead to 17 points with 6:30 minutes until halftime.

Harris-Stowe was able to scratch and claw their way back into the game prior to halftime as they cut the lead down to six, but MBU held a nine point lead at the break.

Mina Guevara-Goss and Amar Mansour led the team in scoring in the first half both with eight points.

MBU was quick to extend their lead back to double digits following halftime as Guevara-Goss made a layup and Sophia Horton knocked down a triple.

The Hornets made another short run cutting MBU's lead to six again, but the Spartans were able to get their lead back to 12 prior to the final frame.

MoBap was able to fend off the Hornets throughout the fourth quarter, but they did cut the lead to just five points.

After Harris-Stowe trailed by five the Spartans were able to hold them to just three points and held on to win by 11.

MBU was able to win two of the four quarters and tie one of them on their way to a 77-66 victory on the road.

A handful of Spartans tallied double digit points in the win as Ford led the bunch with 17 trailed by Tyler Butler, Mansour, Horton, and Guevara-Goss.

The win over Harris-Stowe gets the Spartans back into the win column and increases their streak to nine wins in a row over the Hornets.

On Saturday night the Spartans will be back in action as they host Hannibal-LaGrange at 7:00 pm.
