Columbia, Mo. - The Spartans fell behind early in the AMC opener at (RV) Stephens College and eventually lost by a score of 81-63.

Early in the first quarter MBU struggled to get a shot to fall through the hoop and finally got a basket nearly three minutes into the game making the score 8-2.

Shortly after, Stephens went on a pretty big 19-5 run to go into the second quarter up 29-10.

The second quarter went similarly to the first quarter as Stephens extended their lead to 28 points before halftime.

At the break Amar Mansour was the leading scorer with seven points.

In the first half Stephens was shooting 50 percent from the field leading to their 50-22 lead over MoBap.

The Spartans found more success in the third frame as they knocked down a pair of threes late in the quarter.

MBU's offense started to find their groove late in the game scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as they ended up losing 81-63.

Aliyah Williams and Mina Guevara-Goss led the team in scoring with 12 points each, and Guevara-Goss and Mansour each had six rebounds.

MoBap struggled to take care of the ball with 27 turnovers leading to 33 points on the other end for the Stars.

MBU will be back in action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC when they take on William Woods in another AMC matchup.
