St. Louis, Mo. - MBU grabbed their first AMC conference victory with a 75-53 win over William Woods at home.

Early in the competition the two conference foes were playing back and forth basketball and ended the first quarter with WWU up 15-14.

The second quarter went much more in favor for the Spartans as they opened up the second frame on a 10-0 run to go up 24-15.

By the end of the quarter MBU had gone up 17 points to lead the Owls by a score of 41-24.

Kayleigh Winch led the team in scoring in the first half with eight points followed shortly by Sophia Horton and Bryce Dowell with seven and six, respectively.

In the first half alone Amar Mansour had pulled down seven rebounds.

Following halftime the Spartans continued to find success on both ends of the court as they extended their lead to 24 heading into the fourth quarter.

MBU was able to hold on to their significant lead throughout the remainder of the contest and came away with a win in their AMC home opener 75-53 against William Woods.

Mansour, Horton, Dowell, and Winch all finished the game with double digit points, and Mansour put together a double-double with 11 rebounds as well.

MBU tallied 54 points off the bench throughout the game while shooting 40% from the field.

The Spartans will be back in action Tuesday night in another AMC matchup against UHSP at home at 5:30 pm.
