ST. LOUIS – (RV) Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball took down the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy with a road sweep on Tuesday night.
Kassie Lee and
Gabi Jakubowska led the Spartan attack combining for 26 kills and a .467 hitting percentage. Maiana Coehlo had 35 assists and sent down four kills on five attacks (.800) while
Elina Arsov and
Riley Kortkamp led the defense at the net with five total blocks.
Recap
Still riding the momentum from a pair of conference wins last week, MBU came out and took set one 25-9 while hitting .538 with 16 kills on 26 attacks. The reigning American Midwest Conference Player of the Week,
Gabi Jakubowska, registered five of those kills,
Julia Pereira sent over a pair of service aces, and
Kassie Lee picked up two blocks.
Jakubowska collected five more points in the second set while
Maiana Coelho got involved in the attack with three kills to go along with her 24 assists through two sets. The Spartans hit .517 in set two with 17 kills and just two errors, and
Madison Moore ended the set 25-13 with her first kill of the match.
Looking for a sweep set three, the Spartans started on a 14-4 run fueled by six Jakubowska kills, three from Lee, and a pair from
Kirsten van der Vleuten. MBU completed the sweep with a 25-10 set three score and a .367 final attack percentage.
