ST. LOUIS – Gabi Jakubowska and
Kirsten van der Vleuten led Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball to a 3-1 win over Maryville University in the Conway Road Clash. The Spartans took the victory over the crosstown rival 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 behind 24 kills from Jakubowska and six total blocks from van der Vleuten.

A pair of
Luiza Arsufi service aces had the Spartans out to a 4-1 lead in set one over the Saints. Later in the set, points from Ella Brinkmann and Lily Brown pulled Maryville within two at 15-13 before the Spartans got some separation when
Maiana Coelho found Jakubowska and
Kassie Lee for a trio of kills each. The set ended 25-17 to put MBU up 1-0.
The Saints jumped out to a 7-4 lead in set two on two kills from Josey Whalers and strong net defense. Trailing 14-11, Lee scored twice and Jakubowska tied the game. Maryville notched the next point but the Spartans responded with seven points over the next eight plays and rode the momentum to a 25-19 set two win.
Four blocks and a .286 hitting percentage sent Maryville to a 25-23 set three win to force a fourth frame. Gracie Newell led the charge for the Saints in the set with three kills while Whalers had a pair of blocks.
Maryville continued momentum heading into the fourth set and went on a 4-0 run to start. At 5-2, Coelho registered assists on three of the next four plays to tie the game at 5-5. A Brinkmann kill ended the 4-0 run, but the Spartans extended it to a 9-1 run with five more consecutive points.
The Saints battled back to make the score 14-13 in favor of MBU before
Elina Arsov and Jakubowska registered kills followed by a Coelho service ace and an MU attack error.
Fernanda Perini joined in the fun later in the set with two more kills, Jakubowksa put Maryville on the ropes at 24-18, and a service error from the Saints ended a 25-19 victory and a 3-1 Conway Clash Win.
