Mattli Makes 17 Saves, MBU Falls Short to (10) CC 2-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Despite a 17-save game from goalkeeper Gabby Mattli, the Missouri Baptist University women's soccer team ultimately fell 2-0 to Columbia College on Saturday (Oct. 19).

Defensively, the Spartans were able to deny the nationally-ranked Cougars from scoring more than two goals. MBU recorded two blocks and were able to maintain possession of the ball long enough to take away scoring opportunities.

On offense, Kacey Watson and Natalie Gum each took one shot on goal, and Skylar Hollingshead took two. Gabbie Wood took two shots, and one was on net. These shot attempts resulted in an impressive 833 shot on goal percentage for MBU.

Missouri Baptist fought hard until the very end of the game.

The players also took steps towards achieving personal goals. Wood is just one goal away from 10 career goals and Hollingshead is five away from 20. In goal, Mattli is two saves away from 140 career saves.

These statistics will be attainable in Missouri Baptist's match against Harris-Stowe State University on Wednesday (Oct. 23).
