Julia Pereira and
Kassie Lee helped Missouri Baptist University volleyball to a three-set win over Cottey College on Friday afternoon. The Spartans moved to 8-0 in the American Midwest Conference behind 21 digs and three service aces from Pereira and a team-high 12 kills from Lee.

Elina Arsov started the match with a kill off an assist from
Maiana Coelho which sparked a run to take a 6-3 lead. The Comets tied the match at six, but MBU made quick work of the visitors the rest of the way in set one to take it 25-13. Lee had five kills in the first set and
Gabi Jakubowska had four to help Coelho to 14 assists in the frame.
Riley Kortkamp registered a couple of kills early in set two to fuel a 7-0 run from the start. At 16-6, the Spartan attack was relentless. MBU ended the set 25-6, earning nine consecutive points including a pair of aces from Coelho and a pair of kills from Arsov. In total, the team hit .444 against Cottey with 14 kills and two errors on 27 attacks.
Julia Pereira tallied a pair of aces during a long service run in the third set, pushing the Spartans ahead 6-1. The Comets battled back to pull within two before Lee halted their momentum with a kill. Coelho continued to spread the ball to numerous attackers throughout the third set, sent over a third service ace, and ended the contest with her 37
th assist on Lee's 12
th kill of the afternoon.
