ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling won 27-14 over the Trinidad State College Trojans on Wednesday evening.
The night kicked off with a Trojan decision at 103, and Andrea Karagiannis followed by collecting a close 6-4 decision at 110. Makayla Murray, a freshman, debuted at 117 claiming a 10-0 victory by technical fall over Dalilah Aguayo of Trinidad State at the 28-second mark.
Following one freshman debut came another when Meghan Menke made her first appearance in the navy and gray claiming a fall in the second period over Angelica Quintana Aficial at 124. The Spartans made it three in a row with Jordyn Anderson claiming a forfeit at 131.
Trinidad State took more bouts at 138 and 145, both by fall in the first. Then there was a double forfeit at 160.
Bumping up a weight class and nationally ranked no. 2 at 160, Josette Partney, took care of business with a 10-0 technical fall over Chelsea Rivera in 30 seconds. Abby Chandler finished the night claiming the forfeit at 207 to end the match 27-14 in favor of the Spartans.
Women's wrestling travels to Atherton, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 3, to compete in the Menlo Open hosted by Menlo College. The first match starts at 8:00 a.m.
