CANTON, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University men's basketball picked up its first win of the season, defeating Culver-Stockton College 90-70 behind Austin Lewis's 26 points.
The Spartans improved to 1-4 on the season, putting a stamp on the first victory for head coach Taylor Jarvis at MBU.
"Great team win," Jarvis said. "We had great assist numbers, low turnovers. This group is only going to continue to get better. We still made a lot of silly mistakes that we'll grow from, but this group showed their hand in what we can do on a daily basis moving forward. I'm excited to keep growing with this team and to get my first win as a head coach with a group and staff that mean so much to me."
Four Spartans scored in double figures, led by Lewis with 26 points. He was red-hot from beyond the arc, shooting 6-for-9 on three-pointers, 8-for-13 from the field overall, and adding six rebounds.
