HENDERSON, TENN. - On the second day of the Freed-Hardeman Tournament the Spartans faced off against the Phoenix, and Missouri Baptist University was unable to pick up a win as they fell by a score of 54-44.

The first quarter went back and forth between the Spartans and the Phoenix, but Cumberland held an 11-10 lead over the Missouri Baptist heading into the second frame.

The second quarter did not go the Spartans' way as they were outscored 18-5 as they went 1-9 from the field.

At the break Sophia Horton led the squad with six points, and the Spartans trailed 29-15.

Throughout the third quarter the Phoenix tacked on six more points to their lead holding a 20 point lead over MBU with only 10 minutes left to play.

The Spartans saw a ton of success in the final frame as they outpaced Cumberland 19-10. Horton picked up nine points in the quarter bringing her to a team high 15 points. Marija Runic followed shortly behind with 11 points of her own.

Cumberland was able to hold on to their lead throughout the contest as they went on to beat Missouri Baptist 54-44.
