ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Valley Vikings are coming into town to take on the Spartans in the final game Spartan Field will see this year, and the Spartans will look for their fifth win of the campaign.
The Spartans and Vikings have only met once prior to this matchup, and MoVal came away with a 35-20 victory in Marshall, Mo. last season. In the contest Jordan Simpson rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Spartans outscored the Vikings 13-7 in the first half, but Missouri Valley came alive in the second half, claiming their 15 point win.
Coming into the Spartans' Senior Day contest, Missouri Baptist sits one place higher than the Vikings in the Heart of America South standings. The Vikings are 3-4 with a 1-2 record in conference play, and the Spartans are 4-3 with a 2-2 record in the Heart.
These two teams have had common opponents, but have had similar outcomes. They have both beat Clarke and Central Methodist, and have lost to MidAmerica Nazarene and Benedictine.
The Spartans are looking to get in the win column following their back-to-back losses against ranked MNU and Benedictine. Missouri Valley's last victory took place at the end of September when they beat Central Methodist 35-17.
The Spartans will be celebrating the careers of 12 players and two managers during their Senior Day festivities and they are; Zeppelin Velder, Rondale Messer, Jonah Cox, Julian Williams, Rakweon Ramsey, Jordan Simpson, Jordan Kern, Christian Simmons, William Wise, Xaivier Tipler Jr., Giovanoi Sanes, Michael Craft, Marlie Keck, and Ryan Weber.
