Women’s Soccer Wins Last Game of Regular Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — In an exciting goal-for-match, the Missouri Baptist University women's soccer team came out victorious over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy 3-2 today (Nov. 2). This win takes the Spartans to the first round of the American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship, which will be hosted at Missouri Baptist.

The Eutectics battled hard, but ultimately could not stop Missouri Baptist's relentless offense.

Throughout the match, MBU took 20 shots, while UHSP took nine. Despite the difference in the amount of shots, the Eutectics drew first blood early in the match.

The Spartans remained scoreless for the rest of the half while the teams traded taking shots on goal.

Going into the second half down 1-0, MBU came out ball-hungry. Just five minutes into the half, sophomore Paige Rice scored her first goal of the 2024 season.

About four minutes after, Gabbie Wood put one in the back of the net.

These back to back goals set the Spartans on fire for the rest of the game. They only gave up one more goal before the end of the match.

Tied 2-2 with about five minutes left in the match, defender Piper Brown scored her first goal of the season, which was also the game-winning goal.

Other Notable Statistics:

Gabby Mattli - 3 saves

Skylar Hollingshead - 4 shots on goal

Missouri Baptist will host the first game of the AMC Women's Soccer Championship on Tuesday (Nov. 5) at 7:00 PM.
